The music festival Rethinking Europe: Ukraine is back with a second edition and invites you to an exciting programme. Last year’s festival found its source in national romanticism. This year’s festival presents music by the masters of Ukrainian baroque, M. Berezovsky and D. Bortnyansky, together with Ukraine’s three most prominent contemporary composers – The Three S – Y. Stankovych, V. Sylvestrov, M. Skoryk.

18:00 – The evening begins with a screening of the documentary Ukrainian Rhapsody: A Journey into Ukrainian Classical Music, directed by Sofia Nyblom and Valentyna Romanyuk, followed by a discussion by the journalist Sofia Nyblom and Maria Lindahl, artistic leader of the baroque orchestra Rebaroque. The film sheds light on the musical treasure that for historical reasons has remained unknown even to the most season of classical music collectors.

19:30 – Concert where baroque music is contrasted by contemporary composition to paint a picture of Ukraine’s rich musical heritage, performed by well-renowned international artists: the Orchestra Rebaroque, Henrik Frendin (viola), Natalya Pasichnyk (piano) och Olga Pasichnyk (soprano), Emil Jonason (clarinet), Myroslava Kotorovych (violin).
